SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILES
IRIS-T SL
Under development
_IRIS-T SL (Surface Launch) is a new member of the IRIS-T missile family
which intends to meet the German Air Force requirement for a medium
range surface-to-air missile within the US-German-Italian MEADS
ground-based air defense program. IRIS-T SL would include major missile
modifications to meet the medium range criteria such as a new rocket
motor, data-link and GPS-based navigation system.
RIM-116 RAM
_The RIM-116 RAM (Rolling Airframe missile) is a supersonic, lightweight,
quick-reaction, all-weather, low-cost missile designed to engage high
maneuverable anti-ship missiles. To achieve the low-cost objective the
RAM missiles uses Stinger's infrared seeker and the warhead, rocket
motor, and fuze from the Sidewinder missile. The radiofrequency and
Infrared guidance package of the RAM missiles makes them a
fire-and-forget missile.
There are two models of the RIM-116 missile, the Block 0 and the Block 1. The Block 0 missile has only passive RF/IR guidance. The Block 1 (1999) has two guidance modes, RF/IR mode and IR-all-the-way guidance mode. Raytheon is upgrading the RAM missile in order to engage helicopters, aircraft and surface targets. This upgrade, known as HAS upgrade, will be applied thru RAM missile's software enhancements.

LFK NG
_The LFK NG is a variant of IRIS-T air-to-air missile intended for short
range air defense system applications in support of mobile land-based
forces. Equipped with a high sensitivity IR sensor LFK NG would provide
the German Army (Bundeswehr) the capability to successful engage low
signature airborne targets such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs),
missiles, fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. As of December 2005, LFK
NG is still an experimental study carried out between Diehl BGT and EADS
LFK.
LFK NG is optimized against fast and maneuverable targets and more impressive targets hidden and masked behind hindrance. The last group of targets can not be engaged with current missile systems. The missile retains the main features of the IRIS-T missile (IR, TVC, kinematics) adding a new warhead. The German Army has fielded its first LFK NG based air defense system in 2008 complementing Stinger missile systems and ultimately replacing them.

Bolide
_Bolide is a jamming-resistant laser beam guided missile for use in
lightweight, short-range air defenses. The Bolide has an intercept range
of 8,000 meters and can engage targets flying at 5,000 meters of
altitude. Its adaptive jamming-resistant laser proximity fuze enables
small targets such as cruise missiles and UAVs engagements.
The Bolide missile warhead is a combination of more than 3,000 tungsten pellets and shaped charge. Currently the RBS70 and the ASRAD-R air defense systems use the Bolide missile.

Roland
_Roland is a short range surface-to-air missile (SAM) developed to fit
into French Roland air defense system. It can engine aircraft flying at
Mach 1.5 and helicopters. Its guidance system is based on radiofrequency
Semi-Active Command-to-Line-Of-Sight (SACLOS) or
Command-to-Line-Of-Sight (CLOS). Roland missile can be fired from
armored vehicles equipped with Roland air defense system which includes a
wide range of platforms.
